Built up from the rubble of Port Royal in 1693, Kingston represents the tenacity and dedication of Jamaica and her people.

By the close of the 1700s, the city had become the most significant port on the island, and by 1872 all government functions were transferred to the city. In the 20th century, it is one of the great polities of the Caribbean, and an important outpost in the Organization of Free Nations.
